I have a love hate relationship with technology. The problem is that currently it seems to be hating me back. I have learned how dependent I am on all things technological and how I truly can not live with out. I am sad to say that I am writing this about something inanimate but for now it will have to do.
Shortly before my summer semester ended my iPod decided it no longer wanted to work for me. No matter how hard I tried it would not recharge. Eventually I sent it in to be fixed and received a new iPod to replace it. Everything was fine once more. I could use it for my homework and of course my entertainment. It came right on time because now my laptop seems to the doing the same thing.
So I called up my good friend Adam and received the horrible diagnosis and suggestion of sending my laptop in to be fixed. Unfortunately my warranty had expired, causing me to have need to pay for this correction to be made. So I reverted to the free computer help desk at school. Now the problem with this is that school employees tend to not be the brightest crayons in the box, and trust me that is being kind. It seems the help desk only has one tech who is allowed to open the computer and do things such as test the hard drive on a mac, which is my current problem with life. My hard drive is shot. In order to find this out I had to track down the Mac Guy who was very helpful and friendly even though his coworkers were not. The first time I went in I was told that I needed to bring my computer in when he was in and that he would be in between 8 and 10 the next day. Of course I assumed this meant 8 and 10 in the mornng so I went in at 9 am the next day to find out he was not there and those who were working did not know when he would be there. They suggested I come back around 2pm. Just before two I called to see if he was in only to interact with an interesting fellow who would not tell me what time the Mac Guy was working until, which I needed to know because I had class at 2. He claimed it was against privacy policies to give out work schedules. Let me tell you even the mac guy thought that was stupid. Anyways, I finally called and got a hold of the mac guy who told me his schedule. Sadly his news was not any better than the news from Adam. My hard drive was corrupt. I had to shell out 80 bucks for a new one and it won't be here for 3 days. I am supposed to be finishing up a wedding invitation this weekend not to mention all of my homework. I never realized how much I needed mi computadora.
