Christmas at the Cabin?

I was dreaming of a white Christmas, just like the ones I used to know…

But since when does anything turn out as planned.

We left for the Cabin on Christmas Eve Eve, December 23, after leaving two hours later than planned. Our car was the last to arrive and the scene we were greeted with was an overflowing toilet.

We have had the heat and plumbing hooked up at the Cabin for a few years now but it is only turned on when we are actually there. Jeremy and Kenny were the lucky ones who got to crawl around under the cabin and play in the unmentionable substances for about two hours, only to determine we were not going to be able to use the sewer system.

General consensus resulted in a trip back to Grandma’s house in Lloydminster, although the prospect of 15 people using a chamber pot did sound interesting.

The excitement of Christmas didn’t end there; things ran relatively smoothly until Christmas dinner. Jonah had not been feeling very well the entire time but it all came out at Christmas dinner. One bite too many caused projectile vomiting and made it easy for the rest of us to decline second helpings.

To add to the events of the Holidays, Rocky and Connie’s plane was delayed due to weather so we only got to spend a few hours with them, Grandma’s fridge started leaking due to too much food and frequent usage, something started leaking in the basement that was on the opposite side of the house and therefore not related to the fridge and we left Lloydminster twice because Dad forgot to give Jeremy and Chantal the keys for the car we left for them and we had an extra suitcase we didn’t need in the van.

I don’t tell these stories for pity or to complain, overall it has been a good Christmas so far. I just think that situations such as these deserve the right to be documented.

Christmas was a good, we got to spend a lot of time with Kenny, whom I haven’t seen in a couple of years and enjoy time with the rest of the family. We arrived in Eyebrow this evening and saw Kevin, Linda, DeMara and CJ briefly and Shianne, Gary and Jaida for slightly longer. My next few days will be spent with Grandma, Grandpa, Mom, Dad and my three youngest siblings. Hopefully things will be a little less exciting ☺
